I have an 08' RG and I need to lower the rear for comfort. I only need about one inch. Can anyone tell me what the stock Touring Shocks measure from eye to eye? Info much appreciated.
Thanks Guys
johnny p, the simplest way to do it, would be to find someone with a streetglide of similar year to swap out shocks with. that'd lower your bike an inch or so in the rear, as the suspension of the streetglide is already an inch shorter. i'm 3 hours north of dallas, and just so happen to have an 08 streetglide with stock shocks. i'd prefer the longer suspension travel, as i'm 6'-4" tall, and having a low bike is of no interst to me. get in touch, we could both benefit from swapping, and wouldn't cost anything either. i'm emwolb_31@yahoo.com i know that year for year will swap, but i wouldn't want to swap out for an 02 model year, cause of the mileage. i've got 12 k mi on my sg.
Do any of you RG owners know if this is true. Sounds about right to me. Can I put SG shocks on my RG,is that all the low profile touring shock is? Info would be appreciated.
Well my shock swapping deal fell thru,so....if there is anyone out there in TX with a RK Claasic or a SG who is interested in trading thier shorter shocks for my taller shocks just PM me and maybe we can get together and swap.
You'd be a lot better off buying Progressive 412 shocks. They are much higher quality than OEM and can be found for less than $200pr. I've had them on my bike for 4 years now along with their fork springs. If I'd known how much they would improve the ride and the feel of the suspension, I'd have had them the day after I bought the bike new.

I was told that I might want to think about dumping the oil and replacing it with a heavier grade. Has anyone done this yet. Plus I was told by an H-D meck that I needed to use H-D parts for lowering my bike so as not to void my warranty. I figure with SG shocks it will appear to be stock when the bags are removed, and since they are H-D OEM it should not void my warranty. Unless they measure the shocks it will look like I put the Profile Low Shocks on.
