Wifey and I just figured out last night that the only week we could both get off from work was next week. She wants to take a road trip (bummer ). Lot of work to do, bike wasn't ready. Got to change the oil as I have 4000 miles on this batch. Ordered new tires from Dennis Kirk today that should be here Wednesday. Just not enough tread on the other ones to be riding too far and the way it's been around here this year, I'm sure we'll hit rain somewhere. I'm also certain I have another fairing bracket broken that I have to fix. This is on top of that fact that my sons car just puked the clutch and I just pulled the tranny yesterday.
Enough whining, here's my question: thinking about heading from central Illinois to the Blue Ridge Parkway and catch it maybe around Roanoke VA. Anybody got any good 2 lane roads across southern Indiana, northern Kentucky and into Virginia? Don't have much time to plan the trip and get the scoot ready. Last year someone on here gave me a great way across Tennessee down to the Dragon. I thought I would pick the brains of the experts once more.
Ha .Just got back and can't remember what roads we took....Im always in lead but someone is always tellin me where to go!!!! Just like at home..LOL...anyway any road is better than what us FLATLANDERS have.. :-) Have a great time...How can you not!!!
Knowing very little about that part of the country, I will give you a little advice anyway. While you are getting the bike ready have the wife pick up a Rand McNally Road Atlas and mark all the routes they have identified as scenic. I have used this system all over the country with excellent results.
