Sorry for the thread drift...

My CLB's are 645 across the board. But I do run open loop (13.5) in the 20 & 30 MAP up to 1250 rpm.

The intake temps were in the 115 to 125 range with engine temps in the 240 to 250 range during the last v-tune.

Now I know how I get my MPG in the high 40's. I don't twist the wick so hard. I tend to stay around 65mph all the time when on longer trips.

I talked to those guys at Sturgis this year also and they said the same thing. My HD guy here and FuelMoto said the same thing. Only about 2-3 hp advantage to the $$$ V&H.

We went out to the Black hills from Wisconsin about 3 weeks ago. I have a '09 Ultra (13,000 miles on it) that was stock except for Rush slip-ons. Two-up and with all our crap loaded, we cruised at 75-80 on I-90 and mostly got mid-30's. On our ride home we hit Wisconsin around 8:00 pm, had dinner outside of La Crosse and rode home the last 170 miles in the dark. I slowed down to 60-65 so I could be on the look out for deer, raccoons, etc. and ended up getting 50 mpg on that last tank. First time in the year I've own it that it hit 50!! Best before that was 45, normally in the high 30's to low 40's. After our trip I decided I needed a little more power so I put on a SE air kit and got the stage 1 download.... power is up and surprisingly so is my mpg. I was expecting to take a hit but so far 3 tankfuls the mpg is up a few mpg. I'll take it. So, mid-30's at 75 mph is not out of the norm in my opinion.

is this why i should spend the money for a power commander or fuel pak? (and why one over the other).

finally, while i have you, what is the advantage of putting on V&H power duals over stock headers? the guy at the V&H trailer at BH harley said it isn't that much different. seemed odd considering he was a V&H salesman....but if that is true, why are people paying the $$$ for these?

thanks all for the info on this site...very educational...now if i could only retain some of it!!
That's about what I got running 75-80 out there and back. I use a DFO for fuel management.

thomas remkus, your bike won't get very good fuel economy till it's fully broken in. it will start running smoother, cooler, have more power, and get much better fuel economy when you hit 4 or 5 thousand miles. it will gradually get better as the miles add up. before you know it, it will be a much better running bike than it is at your 800 miles you have on it now.

What's the bike usually give you under conditions around home? Maybe the 75 mph had you in fuel/air range that was really sucking the gas. Your tune/adjustments are crucial. Once you start altering intake/exhaust on these bikes the fuel mileage can take a huge crap.

My 95" Stage II '05 EGC gave me 28-29 mpg for a long time (even riding it like a grandmother) until I tinkered and figured out there was a conflict between the PCIII and the SE download in the ECM. Then it immediatly jumped to 36 mpg but that's the best I ever could get out of that bike. It was great in every way, but sucked gas bad.

This bike I'm leaving stock. I'm getting 43 mpg up and down in the mtns at 75 mph. Not gonna mess with this one cuz MPG's are my primary concern with a 135 mile a day commute - (almost $5 a gallon gas is still fresh in my memory).
