I got 34 mpg to and fro SD last week (722 miles each way). This is low, right? at least compared to other numbers i see you guys (and gals) getting. i have V&H MOs and SE heavy breather with stage 1 download (allegedly).
is this why i should spend the money for a power commander or fuel pak? (and why one over the other).
finally, while i have you, what is the advantage of putting on V&H power duals over stock headers? the guy at the V&H trailer at BH harley said it isn't that much different. seemed odd considering he was a V&H salesman....but if that is true, why are people paying the $$$ for these?
thanks all for the info on this site...very educational...now if i could only retain some of it!!
bike wasn't that loaded. both bags were full, but not packed and i had the cruise set at 75 all day. i thought about that ,but didn't think it would make that much of a difference. maybe it did, i guess i was just expecting more.

Kind of depends.
I just did a round trip to North Dakota (4000 miles) and averaged 46 mpg's using both the interstate and back roads ('08 UC with SE AC, stock exhaust, stock motor, one up, medium load).
I've found my best mileage is 5th gear holding about 65 mph (that's about 2900 rpm's...6th gear at 65 mph gave me worse mileage). I run a self-tuned TTS.
41mpg on the last 2 tanks on the highway running 75+ mph. Stage 1 with a self-tuned TTS map. I'm going to try to slow down a bit and see if I can squeak another couple mpg's....maybe
PineTree, what is your CLB map set at? I'm using 781....
My FLTR has under 800 miles on it, stage 1, reinharts, sert, and not a proper dyno tune. I won't have a proper dyno tune for 200 miles. Currently I get 35 mpg.
Yes, if you are setting the cruise at 75 with any wind at all you can loose 10 mpg as apposed to setting it on 65. I have tested my RKC and that is about what I get "34" when I run 75+ if I back down to 65 I can get about 42.
