Quote: Actually it's the same for '08's...starting in '09 they did away with the bolted on hub bowl and built it into the wheel itself....ya know, back in 1970 my Honda 90 trail bike had IDS....heh, heh.....HD finally caught on.

As far as price goes, you can't even buy a stock replacement pully for that little money.

The 08's came with it the 07's did not.

I will call then later today and order one. It should help with some vibrations.

I busted my cherry on 637's....Nothing flys sweeter than a 637 ! God, we pulled some chit on those pigs! Then I swapped to a converted SSBN that toted the seal teams that didn't exist on paper to places we weren't sposed to go and did stuff we weren't sposed to do. I miss the excitement don't you know, but don't miss the endless years at sea. My first wife never understood why I wanted to sleep outside under the stars after I first retired. Why I would sit/stand out in the rain. Why I would disappear for days on my scooter and never call. Why I would launch my boat when a storm blew in.

688's are cool but they ain't got enuff water tight doors for me, for I've slammed many and treaded water too many times to ever give one up.

My hat is off to you. Maybe someday we can meet and attempt to make a few ladies watertight.

Hey, what squadrons were you assigned...I served mostly out of 6 and 8 and did many meds out of Lamad.

That price did sound just too good to be true. That would have been one heck of a value. There's a lot of metal in that kit.

688's were designed for different missions, until the 637s started getting decomm'd, then we started doing all the stuff (you know what I mean). 688's (with fairwater planes) were pigs to drive and keep at PD. Bow planes definitely the way to go!!

I was on the commissioning crew for SSN 711 (USS San Francisco) at NewPort News shipyard. We spent a couple months attached to Squadron 8. Then over to Hawaii. I spent 17 years there (in Hawaii). All with Squadron 7.

All my deployments were Westpac, IO and the Gulf. Never made the Med. But...wouldn't trade one Westpac for 20 Med runs...

Heck, I still have urges to move into the bathroom, paint it puke green, add stainless "fixtures", install a 1MC and sound-power phones, and live there for 6 months...occasionally surfacing to peek out the window for periscope liberty...;-)

I installed the IDS first and it was a great improvment. The SE was also a great improvement. The IDS smoothed it out and the SE compensator took out the knock. I now wish I had the older heavy fly wheels.
