Default Over-revved?

Hi Ppl. Man i hope this is my imagination. Got 1500 mi on an 05 Ultra w/large oil cooler. Full Synth. at first service. Took a turn and after straightening out, nailed it to around 4000 (possibly as high as 4500) Could've sworn i felt something little let go at the peak RPM. Now I think i feel a vibration i didnt feel earlier (or was it there?) at around 3000 but thats also right around where i shift and perhaps thats kinda the indicator TO shift. Also i dont trust anyone yet enuf to take apart my motor at 1500 miles. I'm riding tom. so I'll pay close attention. Just wanted to get it on here it case it raises any red flags. Thanks. EdMan

The motor will take 4K on the RPM. I've hit that many times. No telling about your engine without hearing/seeing/feeling it, but you shouldn't be having a problem. You're well within red line parameters.

If your bike is stock, you can't over-rev it. It has a factory rev limiter that is set at 5,200 I think. The engine is good for at least 6,000 without any ill effects. If you get a Stage I download for FI it ups the rev limiter to 6,000.

Regards,

Bill

I'm thinking the rev limiter may have cut in, giving you the feeling that something let go?

Hopefully all is well with the bike.

Good luck.

you might have barely bumped the rev limiter...

We are going to have to build it using caterpillar parts. You probably broke a muffler bearing, or the weeble wobble, wollered out.

I bring mine up to 5000 often. If there is no noise then you should be ok.
