Default Shorter windshield

Was looking a for a few opinions on a lower windshield. I currently have a stock shield on my RG, and its starting to get a bit toasty where I live. I don't get much wind right now as I am short, so I end up looking through the shield, and not over it. I was thinking of either shortening it so I can just look over it, or just going all the way, and doing a cafe style shorty windshield, so I don't roast in the heat, but I'm worried about buffeting/noise increase since my head will then be fully exposed. I wear a full face which I figure will help reduce that, but wanted to see what others' experiences were.

So, should I do a cafe shorty shield, or just one that is slightly shorter

Of course, the increase in noise would be a good excuse to pick up some hog tunes

Personally, I like a slightly shorter windshield that I can look over, not so much for the heat, but for heavy rain conditions. When rain is really heavy, I can't see through my windshield at all so I have to look over it. I would be driving completely blind if I couldn't do that.

I forgot to mention it, but seeing over the shield was the other reason I wanted to lower it...thankfully I haven't been in any heavy downpours, or night time rain...just daytime light rain.

I have a RG, and the stock shiel works very well for me, but I'm 6'4" and look over the windshield. I bought one of those HD short windshields, and really like the look, but I can't hear the radio over 55, and I even tried earplugs.
You may try cutting the stock windshield down, so it is about 2" below your eye level.

Take a look at Clearview motorcycle windshields. They offer some nice products for our roadglides with a vent as an option. Typically, you'll want to be able to look over the top of your windshield, say 2" over, as an optimum. Some guys like to look through the windshield, but not me.
I have one of these Clearview GT medium ordered........hope to get it before I leave Friday for Yellowstone and Billings for the HOG Rally. The medium is 1" over stock height which should be about right for me. I wear a 3/4 helmet around town usually, and if not, wear my Arai full face. I have the short HD windscreen and tried it and did not like the windblast on the road.........looks cool, but the fatgue factor is high. So it sits in the garage. I used to run the HD Tall windshield and it was quiet, but a little flimsy.....ran it until the coating started going away. So I went back with the stock unit, awaiting an improvement.......am hoping the Clearview shield will be the answer.
Check their website....................

Cut your stocker down to a perfect size for you. If you want to do it yourself there are instructions somewhere on this board. If you go with a shorty you will most definitely run into buffeting problems.

I have a new Street Bob with the compact quick detachable windshield. I have moved it up, down, and in between and I consider it more a high-intensity turbulence generator than a windshield. And, I wear an Arai full face helmet and earplugs. These small windshields would definitely give you more cooling air flow but the racket is hard to bear.

Try one of these guys before you cut your windshield down. Both are way cheaper than the MoCo's prices and this way you can keep the full size for winter.

Some good responses, and from what I am understanding, for a balance of comfort, ability to hear radio, and protection, it seems that the 2in below LOS is winning so far. The vent in the clearview is very temtping, but I'm not really sold on the look, but I also wonder how much air you get through it too. it may be a good choice for what i need...

I have the clearview 16" short GT windshield. Great shield, I can look over it and hear the radio at 75 mph. Highly reccommended.
