Default stator wiring

both stator wires wore through on the edge of my regulator last night ('01 standard) luckily i made it home on battery power (thus ruining my battery) but when i went to make the wire repair i found myself wondering which 2 wires went to which. my ESP will cover a replacement (on order though) but in the meantime i'd like to ride. should i take the 50/50 chance guess or doesn't it matter (doubtfull)

Are you saying that the two wires from your stator to your regulator both rubbed through to ground at the exact same time? You need to park that bike until you have determined that you have no other problems like a blown regulator or stator.

Anyway, it doesn't matter which wire from the regulator goes to which wire on the stator on a single phase (2 wire) stator system. It's AC.

Why do you think your battery is ruined??? Just charge it back up...it will come back..
