arived in north myrtle beach this afternoon, tv news says less people are showing up and the ones that are, are bypassing myrtle beach itself due to new laws that are in effect. the news interviewed local residents and their feelings are mixed on ralley. does not realy matter i'm here to play some golf anyway
Whether anyone will admit it or not, everyone has "Sport Bike Week" to thank for the recent anti-biker legislation passed by the city of Myrtle Beach. Even before the laws were passed the merchants of MB were fed up with it.. Class action lawsuits were brought against many of the local businesses that simply closed up shop during a particular event each year. Also, plenty of MB hotels didn't allow motorcycles, of any kind. Ever.
While its unfortunate that the surrounding Horry County areas will lose revenue because of the legislature of one city, I personally don't plan to spend my money in a place where I'm not welcome.
I went to Myrtle Beach Bike Week once & was treated well. I've been through the area several times since & been treated poorly, subjected to disparaging remarks about motorcycles, & listened to some of the worst racist attitudes I've heard in years. The people of Myrtle Beach not only are entitled to discontinue the bike events, they're welcome to it & the results. I will never pass through there again. Either on a motorcycle or any other mode of transportation. I may not be able to stop their various forms of discrimination, but I'll be damned if I'll support it.
Outer Banks Bike Fest is this weekend. No need to go to Myrtle Beach and get hassled.
Didn't go to the Spring Rally, didn't go there for any weekends, didn't go there on vacation, won't go to the Fall rally. I'm done going to Myrtle Beach.
Enjoy your new taxes Myrtle beach, thank your government for protecting you from all those bad bikers.
People say that the rally is really not in MB and I understand that its not. So why do people buy the shirts that advertise it as MB rally. No way would I buy a shirt that had your name on it after you told me to f$ck off. Please if your going to go at least don't advertise for a town that says screw you. jmho
