I can't seem to tighten the clamps enough to keep the muffler tight.
After my trip today I notice the left muffler was sticking out more than the right side on my '04 Ultra Classic. I wiggled the muffler back forward but the clamp will not tighten. What's up with that?
I am betting that you've replaced your stock mufflers with slip ons and re-used the stock clamps. These Torca clamps are meant to be used only once and should be replaced whenever you remove them.
Just finished putting the exhaust back on my RK after changing the tire. My stealer did not have any Torca clamps in stock so I had to reuse the old clamps.
Make sure the head of the bolt portion is lined up with the spacer collar between the bands of the clamp. The shoulder of the bolt is serrated and it is easy to get the serrrations misaligned so the oval shape of the bolt head does not ling up with the indentation in the clamp band. Line these parts up and it will tighten up alright.
It might save you a trip to the stealer and get you running tonight. Good Luck.
