Default Quick Garmin Question?

When they say a Garmin is Bluetooth compatible does that mean if you set your phone up to it will the prompts come through your little bluetooth ear set? So you can wear a half helmet. I have a Roadking that's why I want to know. TIA

I suspect that depends on the model.
I have a Nuvi 680, which is mainly intended for in-car use.
When I enable bluetooth, I can pair it with my phone.
That lets me use the phone hands-free, using the nuvi's speaker and built-in mic.

When I mount it on the bike (a RAM handlebar mount) I ignore the voise and just watch the screen.

---------------------
I just re-checked the manual. Bluetooth (for this model, at least, is for phone only.)
I can, however, have the the nuvi "speak" through the radio by selecting FM output and choosing an unused frequency.

As for their MC-friendly GPS's, the Zumo 550 has BT but the 450 does not. I'm not sure about the new Zumo 660. As I understand it, your description about how it works is correct.

Yes, you can do that. I have a Zumo 550 on my Road King. I pair both my phone and headset with the GPS.

The model I'm looking at is the 765T. I know it's not the Zumo, just that the money is funny right now and I thought I could wait for one of those Christmas sales.

Not all Bluetooth devices pair will all bluetooth enabled phones. The device should provide a list of the phones it supports. If you phone is on the list you should get the supported functions fed to your phone.

I got off the phone with Garmin and that is the one I am buying for the bluetooth set-up. $219 at Car Toys, Amazon or Sears online is the best price as of today that I can find.

I had a nuvi 200w, it was ok, not waterproff, no bluetooth, I finally got a zumo 550 with the xm antenna. It's a great GPS has everything you could want on a bike

The bluetooth will pair your Garmin to your phone. This means when you get a call it will flash on your screen that you have a call and you can see who it is. You would be able to hear the other person if you answered it through your headphones or speakers but you will have to use the built in mic in the GPS. That means you can pretty much only take calls through it if you are stopped.

So if my phone is bluetooth compatible I'll be able to hear the directions the gps is telling me without looking at the gps all the time.I don't care about answering the phone call.
