I used to use it in my FI's. Instead now I use Startron Starbrite because it helps against the 10% ethanol crap and also acts as a stabilizer so I don't bother with the Sta-bil anymore. You shouldn't have any problems with Sta-bil
Sta-bil in my 2006 fatboy one year. Went out to start it for the first ride of the season, and it started right up. Ran kinda rough, but still responsive. Then i filled up and I could tell the difference.
So the next year I put in seafoam, pretty much at the same time, and started the bike up for the maiden voyage pretty much at the same time. Much better, much - much better.
So, no change in the bike at all from one winter to the next. Matter of fact the sta-bil was in a heated garage.
Now, I dont use sta-bil any more, I use the seafoam. But, that means nothing. With the crap gas we get here in Wisconsin, who knows what kind of winter/summer blend I put in when I filled up for the winter either year.
I am sure sta-bil is fine, but for what gas we have here seafoam works better in all my stuff, lawnmower, snowblower or motorcycle.
Sta-bil is supposed to be a very high quality additive that does more than just stabilize fuel for storage. My friend has studied it at length and now uses it year 'round as it supposedly cleans and lubes everything in your fuel system nad combustion chamber. I have heard similar things about Seafoam too.
I've used Sta-bil in 3 FI bikes.
I put it in the gas before my last ride of the year.
Go for a ride to get it through the system.
Shut bike off and top off the gas tank and park it till spring.
When I get my bikes out in the spring I leave the Sta-bil gas in it and ride.
Never had a problem.
If your worried about leaving the stuff sittin in the FI's.....
After your last ride, pull out the fuse for the fuel pump and start the bike.
It will start and die. Then hit the starter and hold the button down and it will sputter for a few seconds then just crank, then the FI's will be cleared of gas.
That's what I do.
Never had a problem.
Star Tron here.............I was told by multiple mechanics that it was superior to StaBil in dealing with this ethanol crap we have in our gas. We currently have 10% ethanol and now they are talking about going to 15%.........great!!
