From my 8yo's writing book while in Afghanistan
I had to explain to my son where I was going and why I had to be gone. It gets harder to explain every time. He's getting older and knows and understands more. Below are a couple of entries I found in his writing book when we were going through old homework. Very emotional for me and made my wife sniffle.
These are the moments when I am most proud of my son.
"5/22/08 - My dad is at Afghanistan and he will not come back until it's September 25th."
And the very next day, his journal entry:
"When I'm an adult, I'll be in the military and fight for this country! If I die I'll still love my mom and dad!"
Just had to share.
These are the moments when I am most proud of my son.
