Default Fork Cap Bolt Question

(Haven't picked up that Service Manual yet) Am I correct in understanding that the Fork Cap Bolt on the top of the '09 EGS fork tube is 1 3/8"?

Thanks.

36mm I believe. You have the wrench in your tool kit (unless you didnt get one with the bike). I hunted for 1/2 hour Saturday and finally decided to check the kit and there it was.

My manual is out in the garage but I'm pretty sure its 36mm or 1 7/16" (closest fractional inch) 1 3/8" is closer to 35mm.

Thanks guys. Nope, didn't get a tool kit with this bike. I'll check with my local independent shop and see if I can borrow his wrench - he's a friend of mine. Appreciate the answers!

I just did it yesterday on my '09 and it is 1 3/8". Fits perfect. 1 7/16" would have been too big. 35 mm is 1.378" which is only about .003" larger than 1 3/8" so it would probably work. 36 mm is too big as well.

So, 1 3/8" hum... ? Well, I can't find an open end/box end of that size anywhere. My friend's shop is closed for the holidays. And I didn't get a tool kit with this bike. Went to Sears - biggest they had was 32 MM and they were darn proud of that! A socket won't fit in there. Any suggestions on where to find one? Thanks again.

One like THIS from motion pro works great. Don't know if you have a truck supply place in your area, but they would have some big honking sockets I'm sure.

And yes it's 1 3/8. The 36mm in the tool kit is just slightly larger but it does work to unloosen and tighten them if you are careful in doing it.

I picked up a 1 3/8" socket at Autozone for $10. It does fit under the handlebars (Heritage bars on a RG) but barely.
