Default Fairing Removal

I have an '05 Ultra Classic E-Glide - want to install Hogtunes speakers. What is the process for removing the front half of the fairing? Do I need to remove the headlight assembly first (that is easy enough), but then what?

Using a Torx 27, remove the 3 screws under the windshield and remove the windshield. From the other side, remove 2 screws (1 each side) by the hand grips. Now, turn the bars full left and on the right side near the neck, remove 1 screw. Then full right and remove the left side screw. Lift up and forward and unplug the headlight. Lift off fairing.

Well said, now some people have issues with the brass inserts that these screws go into when they put it back together.....take your time and be careful not to x-thrd em.

good luck

Hey Phil,

I'm probably gonna put Hogtunes in my bike this fall. Wanna come over and help?

Hey, Phil ....

Thanks a bunch!! That was incredibly easy (with your guidance)!

Boy, the HOGTUNES speakers are an awesome improvement. All you got to do is hold the OEM speaker in one hand and the HOGTUNES speaker in the other hand and you can immediately tell the quality difference. The OEM is just plain junk.

Guess I'll have to order the rears now ...

Thanks again, Phil.

You're very welcome. I guess I've had my fairing off over half dozen times. [&:] Oil temp guage, Hogtunes, XM radio (three times), fairing mount mirrors (twice so far with at least one more to go)... I'm getting pretty good at it.

As for you, Terry, you're in competition with my nomination for "bike of the month" Bill Nourse, so NO! Anyway, I never did like the roadglides... []

However, yours has turned my thinkin' around. Very nice bike you got there. Very nice! I'll be happy for you to win also, for sure!

Be very happy you have a post 1996 version.. I own a 1994 Ultra.. The fairing was a total B!##H to remove.... I think I stood and looked at the dang thing for about 2 hours!!! [:@]

Finally figured out how to take it apart.. And didn't have to use the crow bar!!! [8D]
