Bike Alignment Problem - Answer Found in HDforums
Thought I would pass on my experience for the benefit of others. At the end of Oct, I dropped my 09 EGC on a hairpin turn on a gravel road. I got off light. No paint damage - just scrapes on the engine guard and the saddlebag guard. Ever since then, I felt that the bike was out of alignment (crooked fairing) and would drift to the left at speed. Finally found the answer in HDforums. When the bike went down, I picked it up the normal way; back to the tank, grab the handlebars and saddlebag guard and walk backwards. After researching the forum, it dawned on me what had happened. The handlebars are on those vibration biscuits and can flex. When I picked up the bike, the flex in the bars moved the batwing on those 4 spotlight bolts. (a tiny shift can make a huge difference) The resulting air loads at speed caused the bike to drift left. Loosened the bolts; repositioned the faring(no effort required); and all is right with the world. Hope this can help someone else.
not just touring. my jack collapsed one night in the middle of a project and my scoot fell over. bars were all funky...loosened em and realigned the dampeners and they weres traight again
