Went helmet shopping
Never worn a helmet until I had a baby. Since he was born and my attitude changed...I wear a Bell full face. All black with a black visor. The best $500 bucks I ever spent! Fits very nice and like it a lot while riding. I really never thought of a modular when I got mine.
I have a brand new Black Graphite Nolan N-103 modular helmet with J&M integrated Bluetooth
, still in the box. (Size Large.) I purchased it thru Shawn at Dr. V-Twin, who still has it, as I am currently out of the country.
If anyone would like it for $225 less than the internet price that J&M sells it for, let me (or Shawn at Dr. V-Twin) know.
Save $225 off J&M internet price!

When you say a helmet is "comfortable" it is comfortable for you. Some people have narrow heads, some round, some narrow jaws, some wide. All helmets are different. Some have customizable cheek and head pads to make it fit correctly. I have a custom fit Arai. HJC 3/4s fit me very comfortably, Nolans don't fit me at all. If you ride long distances a uncomfortable helmet is torture you can shift in you seat if your butt gets sore but you can't shift your head in your helmet. It just gets worse and worse as the day goes on. Lots of helmets look cool but if you are buying based on looks you could be making a fairly expensive mistake.... Go for fit.
This is coming from Connecticut. The land of NO HELMET LAW. Thats right. You have to wear your seatbelt or you will get a ticket but you don't need a helmet to ride a motorcycle.
I will go out on a limb and say that 95% of the Harley riders in Connecticut don't wear a helmet. Thats rider and passenger.
I am one of the 5 percenters!!!
Pick out a helmet that is comfortable, fits correctly, looks good and most importantly, DOT approved and a helmet that will inspire you to wear it all the time (if your state doesn't require it).
The problem I have with a full face helmet is the sociable aspect. You simply can't hear fellow riders talking and they can't hear you. I also like to feel the wind a little too.
I have 2 helmets. A 1/2 and a 3/4. I flip between the 2. When its really hot I wear the 1/2.
I have Fulmer and an HJC. Harley has some really nice looking helmets at the dealerships.

I wear a modular, but in little print it says that it does not provide frontal impact protection. So, beware if you think a modular will offer the same protection as a FF. Mine also allows me to ride with the chin guard in the raised position, but it causes serious buffetting problems at speeds over 45MPH. But I like having some wind hitting me in the face to help with air circulation inside my helmet. Using a taller windshield may solve that problem.
I plan on getting a 1/2 helmet this year after having only a modular for the last 3. I love my helmet, but it is too hot in the summer and I hate not being able to hear the radio or my passenger in some cases. The 1/2 will also stow away much easier, which will be nice.
