Question Amzoil

Has anyone heard of problems with bikes running amzoil?

Changed my oil this week and thought I would try amzoil to help with the extreme high oil temps I had been having. Finished changing the oil, fired it up and everything looked fine, went for a ride and mile from home I'm throwing thick white smoke out of the exhaust and oil is blowing out of my air cleaner. Got the bike back home thinking I busted a oil ring or something, talked to the local bike shop and he told me he had one other guy same bike that put amzoil in his and the same thing happened. Went home drained it, put regular HD oil in and no problem.

Well me being me I thought lets try this again, drained it put amzoil in it and went for a drive, block from home thick white smoke and oil blowin again, got home changed back to regular HD oil, no problems except my high oil temp.

I have Amsoil in mine.. 20w50 synthetic in all three reservoirs.

Ran acouple hundred miles so far.

No problems, even seems to run smoother and cooler.

How many miles do you have on your scoot?
I have heard of bikes with higher miles, when changing to synthetic, getting issues like blow by, seeping at gaskets, etc...
probably no help, but these "rumors" are enough to keep me on the dino stuff.
I doubt the amount he is putting in is the issue as the dino stuff corrects whatever problem he is having.

Haven't heard of that personally. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will give an explanation. By the way what year and model is your bike. Also what was the oil, 20-50, 10-30 or what?

Put 20-50 in it, just under 4 qts. Bike is a 07 with only 11,000 on it. Regular oil no problems, Amzoil smokin and blowin. Like I said reason I tried Amzoil in the first place was because of high oil temps I'm getting, just has me kind of puzzled.

I've ran Amsoil in just about all my bikes and never had a problem. Have you considered contacting and discussing this with them?

Amzoil is as good as you can get. You have other problems. I've used Amzoil for 36,000 miles, changing every 5K.

I have been using Amsoil for about 3 years in all vehicles and never had a problem.

What oil are you using? I use MCV 20W50 in engine.
