mnharleyrider20, I did the same thing on my '07 at the 10k service, I put amsoil 20w50 in all three holes at the beginning of the riding season last year. I rode just over 5,000 with no problems at all. I just did the 15k on it, putting the same stuff back in and while I have only ridden about 50miles so far this year, no problems so far.. Is your engine stock?? If not, maybe your having a ring or compression issue causing some gasket seepage or blowby. Thats about the only thing I can think of.
Like Gofer said amsoil is slick and maybe you engine is past the "wear" point at which you can use it. I have tried different types of synthetic oils in my used and new cars over the years and noticed the higher mileage ones suffered like that, blowing smoke and leaks, when i tried to switch them to syn. I know by experience that you cant use synthetic in a brand new engine nor a higher mileage engine. Have you tired any other synthetics to see what the results were.
08 Ultra, 20,000 miles, running Amsoil, no problems
However if the quarts you are using say "amzoil", then I think you are using some sort of generic brand.
Switch to the real Amsoil and you will be set.
Sorry couldn't help myself.
You won't have any problems running Amsoil...or Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Redline, Syn3, Castrol, Motul, or anything else that roughly meets the mfr's viscosity specs (20w50, 15w50, 20w60, etc.). They're all excellent products, but some are just priced better than others.
Either he is full of it and just trying to get a rise outta you amzoil(ha ha) guys or he is telling the truth and you guys telling him there is no problem is just you telling yourself "It can't be the oil, I run the same oil". Saying there isn't a problem over and and over and over to him will not make his problem, if there really is one, go away.
Sounds like you over filled you reservoir, specially if your getting blow by on the intake. Better to under fill than to over fill. Just sayin. Iclick says it best.
