Progressive 940's
Has anyone tried the new Progressive 940's. From what I understand reading their sales pitch, they sit low like a SG but the soft secondary spring allows the rear wheel to drop effectively providing the same full travel of the Classic and Ultra. If they worked as advertised I would be interested.
mine arrived today, but bike is in shop getting the 1k service. I hope to get it back before the weekend. Suppose to be 80 degrees, I am really curious if they work or do they go on the shelf with every other worthless purchase.
I've had them on my 09 RG for a couple of months now along with PS Monotube
cartridges up front. bought the bike Dec of 09 and only rode bike about 300 miles before I knew i didn't like stock suspension. I would describe stock ride as mushy and not very confidence inspiring. The suspension as I have it now I would describe as firmer and to me makes the bike handle more responsive. If I didn't know the bike weighed 900 lbs. I would think I was riding a softtail frame bike.
I like the combination I chose, but I'm sure others will say there are better options. and the point that sold me was the 1" drop without losing stock travel. I tried stock shorter rear shocks that would bottom out on serious bumps.

so do the 940' ever bottom out?
Never has bottomed on me. I ride solo and weigh 200#.
Also, I forgot to mention, The front end use to dive pretty bad under hard braking. The Monotubes got rid of that. If I could have changed only one thing that would be it.
I'm not sure what you all are expecting but I got rid of brake dive, rear bottoming out, overall mushy feeling, and bike is more responsive. Its not a sport tourer, but I didn't expect it to be.

Thanks for the input. I have the HD low profile shocks from the SG on my EGC. I needed to get the bike closer to the ground to accomodate my short legs. If I lower the pressure down to 20 - 25 psi the ride is comfortable but it will bottom way too easy. If I take the pressure up to 30+ it won't bottom but rides harsh as he%%. I like the concept of the 940s and the input here helps.
