Default XStream users, do you have this problem?

I had my 7 inch XStream installed today and I have this problem in the center hole.

This is with all of the screws tightened down with the windshield sitting neutral before the screws tightened.

Did you just receive the GEN 3? If so it says in the instructions that this will happen, that before you tighten the center bolt you are supposed to put pressure on the top of the shield downward to get the shield to seat properly.

That sounds like a bullshit excuse for a bad product design and/or quality.

I've porbaly tried at least 10 different windshields from 5 different companies and never had any thing look like that.

The worst instructions I ever had was from Windvest, that said if I didn't tighen the windshield in a certain order it might crack.

The center cut out in the windshield is alot bigger than it needs to be. That gap is with the out board cut outs lined up in the fairing and like I said the wind shield sitting neutral. Yes, when I push the windshield down, it goes away but wouldn't it creep back up when it's hit with wind at highway speeds?

Last night I tightened down the windshield screws per the dealer's reccomendation. Yesterday, I had to get the dealer to replace the two outer brass inserts with the threaded replacements due to them being stripped free on the inner fairing while the previous owner had the bike. I rode to work this morning and the gap is back. Not too pleased. Like I stated, the center cut out is too big especially if the windshield is going to act as a spoiler and be pushed down by the wind. Over all, it's a nice windshield but this is someting that needs to be addressed. One should have to tighten the screws down to the point of risking the brass inserts being stripped free of the faring to keep the gap from creeping back up when it's push flat by the wind.

Many have had to replace the brass inserts due to the design of the stock ones. I've already replaced all three for the windshield and that was before putting on the new X-Stream's.

As for the windshield itself. I received a 9" X-Stream Version 3 on Friday and saw that this one came with the instruction sheet with it that did mention having to push down on the center and tighten the screws. I did not have any problem with the kind of gap you show in you pic and did not have to push down on the center of the shield to get it mounted.

I'm sure you've already tried refitting the shield to see if this helps? Possability that the bottom of the shield is catching on the inner fairing not allowing it to fit properly.

If the problem persist contact Matt at LRS and let him know. I'm sure he'll make things right.

I got the new 7" version 3 the other day too..a replacement. I had to push down after I snugged up the outers a lttle too. I rode the other day & it stayed in place, but it was a short ride. I will be doin a little more tomorrow. I could't understand why it was designed that way either..But my experience so far with LRS has been very good & if this one fails, I am sure they will make it right by all of us.

Just so that you all know, we have recently fixed the issue of the holes popping out like this. if any of you have an issue like this one above please email me at longrideshields@gmail.com so that I can replace your shield with one that will work with your fairing.

It has been an interesting project making the x-stream, but we are getting it perfected.

the new design has a closed hole for the center bolt which will not allow the windshield to slip up in the fairing.

I will post pictures on the website soon.
