Default 06 Ulitra Classic Coughing

Hi All,

I have an 06 Ultra Classic (Completely Stock) and it came with the 25* injectors from the factory. Here is my problem....

The bike starts fine wether hot or cold. On start up from dead stop wether hot or cold (in first gear) the bike coughs or sputters and may stall. Once I get under way the bike runs great at any speed. When I stop for a light etc. the bike preforms well and doesn't stall or cough at take off.

I have already tried a couple of freash Tank Fulls of 96 octane fuel and the problem still happens Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions

Thanks for any help
Rick

My 04 RG did the same thing, I put a DFO on it, and it solved the problem. Take it to the dealer for a remap, they can probably fix it.

I have the same problem on my 06 Ultra. It only has 300 miles on it. The minute I leave my house or work the first stop and turn I make it does a little backfire. It does not die just a slight hesitation.

PCIII, stage one/exhaust & air, dyno tune. You will get a much stronger running bike that gets excellent mileage and eliminate "LEAN" issues. Well worth the upgrade!

the PROBLEM is the Fuel Map, is to lean, at Take off.

The Bike COUGHS because of the LEAN Fuel Condition.

the FIX = ReTune with a NEW FUEL MAP.

I have a SERT Screaming Eagle Race Tuner.

WHAT IS A PCIII?

is there a LINK to PCIII.
decription?

sounds more like the temp sensors and cold start setup in the ECM. Might want to have the ECM checked for cold start and warmup fuel settings.

PCIII cured my 06 Ultra. I also got the 25* injectors that did not help. PCIII did it for me. If you have a SERT they can tune that also. That is the Harley version of the PCIII. Both change the fuel maps. Need to richen it up when cold.

Hello, had the exact same problem with my 06 r/k that i bought in April. fought with dealer about it for two months. I called h/d moto corp. I then took the bike to another dealer. Harley then called the dealership and advised them to remap and reset to the 8 degree download even though i had the new injectors. Problem solved!!. Bike runs great. Factory says the bike does infact come lean from the factory but still should run wthout coughing and stalling. Make them fix it!!

Mine coughs but not all the time. I had my salesman make sure the 25 injectors were on. I have the S/E stage 1 and Vance and Hines all done when I picked up my bike new. I am not sure about the DFO or a SERT. I only have about 325 miiles so far. I am running the 93 octane gas. Will our hot weather affect the fuel problems more?????
