I also wanted to do the same, was having a hard time finding a 12v garage door opener to use. So I decided to just use the 3v one and figure the battery lasts for a few years so it won't be a big deal to change it every now and then. Mine is velco'd under the lower cap, and since you don't have the ignition switch to remove, it gives you reach in access.

There are some in the DIY forum that have wired it with power from the bike.

Nice job on the mods Jonny!!! The bike looks great.

Are those Bub 7's? Also, I seem to remember that you bought some 255's here in the classifieds a while back. Did you get those installed yet? If so, how do ya lik'em.

I'll check it out, I'd really like to have it powered from the bike. I'll talk to one of my electricians at work and see what he says. Can I buy just athe button that installs in the fairing for the trip reset? Might have to shoot dawg a PM

Hey Kurt, I just got the 360 mounts on yesterday and they are nice. Thanks a ton for the trade. Pleasure to do business with you. You're an asset to this place, as well as many others!

Yeah, they're the BUB 7's, but I'm seriously considering a 2-1 now. No, I haven't put the cams in yet, I ran out of time so it's next winters project.

Thanks fellas, this place was a huge help in my project. Thumbs up to all who sold, helped and traded parts with me over these last 5 months!

I've been answering a lot of questions in pm's, keep em coming; on here and in messages while it's fresh in my mind. Glad to help

Very nice job Jonny. I can only imagine the amount of patience needed for a job like this. You now have a one of a kind HD.
Job well done.

Thanks Tim, the patience I had to have was mainly monetary which is why I did this over the winter to minimize a loss to my riding time. And yes, cutting into the wiring on a 2 yr old bike was a little nerve racking. But honestly it wasn't that bad when I started in on it. Makes me want to do more and more of it. I'll definitely be a step ahead on my next wiring project.

I am not questioning your work, it looks terrific. I just wonder, and I know it's only my opinion,, but if you wanted a EGC or something close, (I see your RK had the hard leather bags) Now it has the hard glass bags, ect... why did you buy the RKC? I ONLY WONDER,,, not looking to get railed on or anything,,

YOUR bike is OUTSTANDING in every way I can think of,,, it's beautiful.
It is certainly a one off, and something to be proud of for sure!

Ask my wife When we bought the bike we just got married, and I just stepped off a 06 FLSTN, because she liked to ride and it wasn't cutting the mustard for us. So, we went into the dealer and they had a brand new 08 SG, and 08 RKC, both vivid black sitting side by side. I said which one do you like, since those were my top 2 choices. She said, the RKC. Then, to my surprise, she wanted to start touring more and more, so I just started changing this and that, and then pondered trading/selling for a SG or and Ultra.............. Thanks to the economy, bikes took it in the shorts and I wasn't giving mine away. So, here we are! Give me a couple minutes and it looks like a SG, that's what I love about it. I'm not stuck with all the excess, but I truly wanted the SG to begin with. My wife got to pick the bike, now I get to modify it

A very clean conversion. Great job. Tastefully done, looks 'crisp' like a nice tuxedo.
