Default Fork broken

I was hearing some noise in the front end and when I stopped for gas I had fork oil all over the place.

The fork looks separated at the top. I can see the o-ring and threads of the cap nut and it still seems to be tight on the tree. It looks like the tube came apart. The threaded part of the tube came out of the top of it.

I dropped it off at the shop but they are not going to be looking at it for a few days. They said it might be covered under the extended warranty but they did not seem sure about it.

Anybody seen this before?

Yup your pinch bolt broke (lower tree), and fork unthreaded from the cap.
Buddys fat boy same thing. Easy fix

Thanks

I was going to Ocean City but decided to head on home after I noticed the problem. Actually I had oil on my goggles but did not know where it was coming from because it was dark and I could not see the oil. Thought it was bugs at first.

Check out the picture and see if you think that's what it is.

By the way I had the fork oil changed at 60,000 miles and it has 65,000 now. I asked if they may have left it loose or something.

Thanks

Since someone has just worked on it,I would be asking the same question.

I hate to say it without knowing for sure but it would not be the first time they left something loose. I went to pick it up one time after they changed the exhaust pipe and the muffler was falling off.

Yea your lower pinch bolt is loose or broke.
Most likely just being worked on it was left loose.
