It'll take 38oz in an 07 and up if its completely dry like if youve had the primary cover off....32oz will do you just fine. That chain will be slingin plenty of oil around with just 32 oz.

Not correct either... So much mis-information.

Taken directly from the Service Manual for 2009 Touring models:

Pour 38 fl. oz. (1124 ml) of GENUINE Harley-Davidson
FORMULA+ TRANSMISSION AND PRIMARY CHAINCASE
LUBRICANT (Part No. 99851-05 quart) through the
clutch inspection cover opening.

NOTE
Only add 45 fl. oz. (1331 ml) after service that involves removal

of the primary chaincase or primary chaincase cover.

That was what my dealer said as well when I tried to buy 2 quarts because I knew it said 38 ounces.

My manual says 45oz if it's completely dry, 38oz if it's just a drain and fill.

The manual says 38 oz. so go with that and you can't go wrong. Every Mechanic, Dealer, Service Mgr and Joe Stroke told me 32 oz is what they do and it is fine. so that is what I do.
