Default Primary Service ???

so according to my service manual when changing the primary fluid you drain and fil with 38 fl. oz. of new fluid. I was going with the red line shockproof which only comes in qt size. my question is why? do I really have to purchase two quarts?

Not sure what bike you have. Mine is a 99 RK. My Clymer manual says 32 oz. I don't think I even use all of that, but close. You should fill it until it is even with the bottom of the clutch opening (derby cover) or to the bottom of the diaphragm spring.
they make a new funnel (dealer sells) that should make pouring in fluid easier. i plan on trying it next time I have to change fluid. I use the old derby cover gasket right now.
The newer bikes could require more fluid then mine does though.

Exactly. One quart will not do it.

That's not correct if his bike is an '07 or later. Page 164 in the manual says 38 ounces.

38 oz.s. Right, the newer primary is larger. I've been useing Redline because shipping for the tranny fluid was one price and I purchased the primary fluid. Kind of think as long as the amount of fluid is correct the manufacturer does not really matter.
