Default Stage 1 Help!!

Hey guys, I'm putting a Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner and changing my Rush muffler baffles to 2.5" on my '06 Road King. The bike is stock and I need to have my dealer re-flash the ECM to the Stage 1 download for $150.00. Well, I found a guy selling HD part number #32708-99b which is a Stage 1 download that you plug in. It sells for $25.00. My understanding is that this HD part is what the dealer did in the past to change to map and now they flash it.

My question is this, will this do the same thing as having the dealer flash the ECM? Will it "plug" in on my '06. Just looking to save a little $ if it will do the same thing.

Thanks,

Joechief

Not sure if you can do this yourself but from running the part number you listed it looks like its for the 88ci (1450cc) 99-01 bikes not your 06?

You might also want to consider smaller diameter baffles.
That's pretty big for a stock motor.

joechief; you might also want to consider adding your own tuner - most are priced $200 - $300. Then you don't have to re-map w/every upgrade. I use the Dobeck TFI on my 09 FLHX - works awesome & the invested $$$ is off-set quickly when you don't have to get HD to tune...Cheers!

+1 2.25" is all you want to put on a stock 96" motor, anything else will detract from performance. Personally I wouldn't go over 2" on a stock 88" motor. It might get you some more noise but at the cost of performance. That said, to each his own, it's your money and your bike. I'd also agree, invest in a tuner, Fuel Pak for simplicity, PCV or another similar if you want to play with it.

Thanks for the info guys. I already have the baffles so I will see what the performance is like. I'll just go with the download for now and invest in a tuner later.

Thanks,
