Default Changing clutch cable

I will be changing out my stock clutch cable to accommodate my new handlebars and I thought I read some ware that if you park the tires on 2x4's and lean the bike over on the jiffy stand that you wont lose any transmission oil. Just wondering if that was true info or not.

I just did my clutch cable last weekend. I read the 2x4 tip as well but didnt really see the point. Just drain it and pick up a fresh quart.
You have a much bigger battle to plan fighting with the exhaust than to worry about a few drops of oil.

I've heard guys say that but you have to replace the gasket anyway and for 24oz. of fluid I personally just always drained it so I could raise the bike up on my jack and work at a more comfortable height

Haven't done the swap yet but I cut down the short side of a 3/16" Allen wrench to fit on the lower bolt with the exhaust in place. I'm hoping to get the clutch cover off with only having to remove the heat shield, and not the exhaust itself.

I used a 2x10 when I did my handlebars. Leave it leaned over for about 1hr so the fluid will settle to the other side. Stuff some rags in the cracks so it doesn't run everywhere. A little will run down even if you do drain it all. Ialso didn't remove my exhaust only the shield. It allowed enough room to use a short allen on the clutch cover. Year of bike may differ here. It worked great. I just did my 5000 mile service 2 months before and decided to give it a try. I lost maybe 3 tablespoons of fluid. I re-used my gasket also and it doesn't leak. If the gasket tore any, I was ready to go buy a new one but it didn't tear. Popped right off. Ohh.....and the fluid level still shows full. Probably just as easy draining the fluid but I don't live new a harley dealer to get fluid and gasket........bars were sitting in the garage.......ok, I was impatient and couldn't wait. Bottom line is you can lean it over and barely lose any fluid.

You can do it. That is what I did.

It'll take the same amount of time and effort to just drain the transmission.
