My bike died. i have an 05 Ultra Fuel injected, was starting to come home from work this am and it popped and died on me. It turns over but doesn't start. The check engine light stays on . I have no clue what it could be. The other day it started making some racket in the lower front part of the engine and wanted to die on me then it was fine. I have rode it since and then to work last night and was fine. Any suggestions would be helpful, and btw, GEICO's roadside assistance sucks!
use the search button on here, look for check engine codes. it will tell you how to pull the codes up on the odometer. post the code here and we can help you with diagnoses. list miles, modifications, type and location of previous noise.
I just got the bike home ( had to have it towed) which ya know is kinda embarrasing when a bud at work has a bmer 1200 and he says, ya shoulda got a bmer. hahaha. Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not a yuppy ***.
Anyways, pulled the codes and it is a P0374 which according to the sheet is an CKP sensor sync error. So what does that entail? Is this an ECM issue or hopefully something less serious (and expensive) ?

Sounds like you need to replace the crank position sensor. Those go bad every now and again. Easy swap, it's located down in front by the oil filter. 32798-00B $54.70

Yeah, and remind him of all the bmer's with blown up final drives and electrical fires under the seats. I just read about these issues on the iron butt website. It's amazing how many of them blow chunks and yet they still dominate the iron butt rallies. Motto: bring lots of spare parts if you want to make the trip on a bmer.
Major bummer on the shut down. My bike is the same model year. Maybe I'll keep a spare crank position sensor in the bags.
