Question Best Ipod Connector???

Spent a day wiring in an adaptor/power supply gizmo I purchased at Best Buy. It lasted one day on the road, then I started to get intermittent (at best) audio. The power seemed to be consistent, but the connector's audio pins had obviously failed to make contact.

My question is, has anybody had better success with certain brands of connectors for Ipods? I'm thinking about going with a straight Apple USB adaptor and wiring a USB transformer into the bike.

Seems like the Apple connectors form a more solid linkage with the Ipod and Ipad.

Ideas???

Thanks!!!!

All I have ever used is just a 1/8" to 1/8" cord on my IPod. I keep the IPod in my pocket though as the vibrations mess it up otherwise. I do use a cigarette lighter connector to charge it when needed though too.

I used Iron Cross Audio to put an AUX port on the back of my radio to connect my Zumo. They can also hard wire an iPod cable. Never tried it, but I'm very please with the work they did.

I use the same. Picked one up at Best Buy that is spiral like a phone cord, works perfect. I use the 2nd generation shuffle and just clip it to the brake line.

Their iPod cable is clean and simple. Uses the iPods dock connector, so the sound is better (does not run through the iPod internal amp,

I use this one from Hogtunes. Has a 90 degree fitting on each end. Snug fit. I had older IPOD mini (daughters old one) and found that the fitting in the ipod itself loosens up over time.

I use a low powered radio transmitter, I can tune it to any frequency on the FM dial and keep it in my pocket. No wires to tangle. When I stop to take a break I plug in the cig adapter to keep it charged up.
