pretty sure all recent models have automatic chain tensioners. That's what you're asking, right?

Default Adjust

If you look at the primary cover you will see the large removable right cover. That is the clutch cover. (derby cover) Centered there is a long depression with no cover. Harley quit putting a cover there when they put the self adjuster in. My 04 has a cover there and really older bike, not sure of year, have a cover to the left over the compensator primary drive to turn engine over manually while working on it. Does anyone out there know when this cover went away and other uses for it?

Yep and you are lucky enough to have the 'new redesigned' tensioner that my '07 didn't, but does now.

Default Adjustment

You appear to have had a lot of bikes. Do you own adjusting? From my experience, due to the fact that the old style manual adjuster has a roller chain going over it , once the links groove it and the chain starts rolling there is little wear. In fact my chain stayed in adjustment for the last 30K. Little loose from run out in one position but still in the range but the next step up on the adjustment was too tight

How do you do that.?? Reach in thru the clutch cover and insure there is a slight amount of slack in primary chain (about 5/8-3/4") but not too much (over an 1") cold. Maybe 1/8-1/4" less then those figures when hot
