Question Have Full Sac...Do I Need Fuel Mgt. Mod?

I've read several threads but am still not too clear on this. Have an 08 FLHT and installed some IED's a year or so ago. Just recently installed the Full Sac conversion, and K&N filter cartridge in stock AC. Am running stock muffs.

Took bike out for a 200+ mile loop on I-80 staying at speed limits, and pulled 52mpg. Normal for this bike has always been 46 mpg.

Bike feels like it is running well throughout rpms; no flat spots etc. that I can tell. It IS a bit louder, but everything else feels the same.

I'm not really looking for any increased HP or performance, so my question is: Do I really need to put in a fuel management modification? Bike has never had any dealer downloads. Is there any chance that I could be ruining the engine by not running a correct fuel/air mix?

What do you guys think?

Thanks for any input......

It sounds like your bike is running well, and the IEDs will work pretty much the same with the Fullsac as with the stock y-pipe.

In my opinon yes once you change the airbox out and exhaust you are causing your bike that is already running a little lean to become even leaner. I would put in a new set of plugs take it for a ride and see if they turn a little tan. If they are white and chalky looking odds are you are running really lean.

I didn't change the airbox...just the filter element...from a stock HD element to a K&N element.

Do you think that would make that much difference in air flow so as to lean it out? I was kind of thinking that the IED's might compensate for any slight change a K&N might make over a stock filter element.

Thank you for your thoughts.....
