I have a 2010 Street Glide in Scarlet Red. Love the bike. I bought the Scarlet partially because a I liked the color and also because it is easy to see on the road. Every little bit helps. Riding back from Laconia Bike week on a hot sunny day, the guy behind me commented that he was having trouble seeing the tail lights against the scarlet color when they came on. Concerning, especially if he other guy is a semi. Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts on a reliable LED fix? I think the CVO SG has LED, but not sure if that will be a practical upgrade due to cost of the CVO parts ( tried to order the grips - VERY expensive). Thoughts? Thanks, Steve
I'm going through the same thing with my wifes 2010 SG Trike. I tried the LED bulbs at 19.95 a piece from the Dealer, But they were no brighter than the stock bulbs. Since she has two, I hate to spend the money for Badasslight's. The Dealer Part's guy said I could replace the entire housing at 115.00 a piece. Haven't done that yet. If you find a good solution that won't break the bank, let me know. I'm picking up my 2010 Red Hot Sunglo Road King tomorrow. I'll have the same problem. Good luck!
I thought my wife just couldn't see when she made the comment about not being able to see my brake lights. This raises serious safety issues. My bike is the two tone red and black. Not much black, just on the bottom of gas tank and side of hard bags. Please post something if you find a fix, I will do the same.
harley has a kit that replaces turn signals with red covers and they stay lit up at all times like the brake/tail light. plugs into wiring harness. in effect, gives you 3 tail lights.
I'm not sure how they would look during the day but I also want to increase my night time visibility and I was looking at Plasma Rods. I was also looking at Custom Dynamics LED Turn Signal Kit.
Yes, the tail lights in "run" mode are not easy to see in bright sun, but there's no problem seeing the red motorcycle. The brake lights are easy to see. Observation based on riding behind a buddy's red '10 SG for about 35 miles.
I have Hyperlites on constant blink for the brakes and Brightasslights.com replacement tail light set on higher output than stock. I can't think of a better combination. Everyone who rides behind me has something to say about it. If you can't see me now you shouldn't be on the road.
