Just over 8,000 miles and I decided to upgrade headlight bulbs. Thanks to this forum giving me the heads up I noticed the radio brackets chafing about half way thru at the windshield area. I`m going to take this up with the dealer along with the front tire cupping and a paint problem on rear fender. Also a big thanks to fixmyhog.com for videos of removal and installation of the fairing. It`s not too bad of a job.
Mine had only slight contact marks, so I split a 2" piece of gas line and slid on top of both brackets.
Also put 2 layers of duct tape on the inside of the fairing.
Good thing you checked it when you did.
Keep us posted on how your dealer treats you.
I noticed the same on my 09. Took a dremel cutoff wheel to the bracket to shave it down some, filed it smooth and then put a piece of gorilla tape over each bracket as a wear indicator for next time I take it off.
Took a CD of several pics of the fairing to have the dealer give to the H.D. rep. and will be hearing from them. I also mentioned the front tire while I was there and they ordered me a new one. The tire had 8500 mi. on it. The owner of Racine H.D. (in Wisconsin) is very cordial and said they`d take care of me.
Harley screws up fairing. won`t fix until it rubs thru

Just called the dealer and they said harley won`t do anything until the fairing rubs thru but they will cover the front tire. They said the radio brackets are adjustable. If they know so much why the f... don`t they adjust the brackets right when they build it? I`m going to have a talk with the dealer owner. I feel better repairing this problem myself anyway but think the factory should change thier ways. While I`m thinking it would be nice if gasoline would grow in 5 gallon cans on my trees in back. The gasoline will happen first probably.
