Default 07 SG starter issues???

I have had times when I go to hit the starter button and it sounds like the starter misses? This has happened to me when I first start the bike after it's been sitting for a long period of time like a week or more. It also has happened to me when I take the bike out for a ride and stop several times, it's like the short runs make it act up. I'm not sure if the starter is going bad or not. My buddy at work says he had the same problem when his battery was going bad. I guess the starter was not getting enough voltage from the battery on the initial startup? I'm wondering if the starter is having issues turning over the stage II big bore kit. Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot it with out buying a new battery first?

Thanks
Mark

The '07 models are known for starter ground problems. Download and read SB M1231 for more info. When I found out about this SB I followed the procedure for re-torquing the starter bolts, and I've had no problems either before or after doing this. I didn't replace the exhaust bracket as specified in the SB.
