Fuel Moto Experience
Wanted to share my experience yesterday...
I have an '06 Ultra, 76,500 miles that, due to a flywheel/connecting rod failure, was rebuilt to a 103 CID stroker.
Newer 2008 stock heads with compression releases; Woods TW-6 cams; stock diameter true dual headers (Fullsack conversion kit); Rinehart slip-on's; SE A/C with K&N filter; high compression (10.5:1) forged pistons; 103 Stroker HO Race 25 Deg FLH 06 DT ECM flash; SE 6-Speed; Power Commander V retrofit from Fuel Moto (FM).
I described the configuration to Jamie & Keith at FM as it was being built. They shipped me the PCV with a map they felt was closest.
I took the bike home from the shop on just the ECM flash. - Pinged, bucked, lagged... Some download...
I installed the PCV - that hardest part of which was using the zip ties to hold everything in place... Ran the USB cable along the frame with zip ties, then thru one of the grommets, into the Tour-Pak so it's easily accessible without taking off the bag and sideplate...
Bike ran better (actually, much better), but still had a hiccup or two. Spoke with Jamie on the phone and he suggested I enrichen a specific area of the map - which is super easy to do and that again helped a lot. But I still felt there was more to be had...
I called FM again and arranged a dyno appointment - called Mon they were able to get me in Thu. I live 3-1/2 hours away - took the afternoon off and drove up to be there at the 5pm scheduled time. After meeting Jamie, Keith and Brian, they were ready for me in the dyno.
Little over two hours later, Jamie was done - took it from 84 HP and 100 TQ 'curves' (actually looked more like a profile of the Rockies, including a major valley at 3000 R's) to 96 HP and 113 TQ with very nice smooth curves and AFR right where it should be. But - you've got to remember - I basically took this from a stock 88 CID to this stroked and commanded 103 CID - so the real change for me is from 60 HP and 70 TQ to the 96/113 - that's a 60% increase to both numbers... And Jamie indicated that since the humidity level was so high (the area got over 8" of rain - I know, I drove thru it for 75 miles of my way home - just glad I believed the weather liars and trailered the bike... no one with any amount of sanity would have been riding in that non-stop downpour & lightning show), he believes the numbers on a more 'normal' day would be about 5% higher - that would be 100 HP & 119 TQ. Not bad for an 'old' girl. Can't help but think of that old TV show opening lines:
"We can rebuild him...
We have the technology...
We can make him stronger, faster..." (Sorry, showing my age).
They were all very patient with me, allowing me to watch the dyno, answering all my questions and letting me poke around the shop.
Speaking of poking around the shop - I got to see first hand the stainless 2-1-2 and 2-1 header pipes they make - nice stuff. And I saw a yet-to-be-released set of mufflers that will be very nice.
Bottom line - the Fuel Moto guys are great. They obviously care about what they are doing and want to make sure the customer is happy.
If you live anywhere close - it's worth the trip if you're thinking of getting your ride dyno'd...
Jamie, and the rest of the guys, thanks a lot!!!!

A quick follow up after riding 2,700 miles thru northern MI and into Canada around Lake Superior (great trip to do BTW).
The bike ran great with the dyno tune!!
As I said - 60% increase in both HP & TQ AND 8% increase in MPG...
Thanks again Fuel Moto!

Thank you for bringing your bike and giving us the opportunity to tune it

Count me in too. Got my new Fuel Moto PCV a couple of weeks ago and finally installed it over the weekend. My Ultra ran much better and seemed to be cooler. The throttle response was much better and the overall rideability was much improved. I only had 1 minor glitch and that was some heavy pinging on initial acceleration. As many have done before, I called Fuel Moto and spoke directly to Jamie and explained what was going on. With in a few minutes I had a modified map in my e-mail in box ready to load. Do I need to say that it worked great? Now I just have install the other PCV I got for my wifes bike and everyone will be happy!
Thanks Jamie and crew!
