Default windshield buffetting - help

Hey guys - need some opinions please;

My 2007 road king has the detachable windshield, standard height. When I ride with a half or 3/4 helmet, I get some pretty serious buffeting - so much so that it is tough to read street signs. When I remove the windshield - ahh - so much better.

However; I have a big ride on interstate coming up, and would like to ride with the windshield for a little extra protection. So now I'm thinking whether the standard is too high or too low for me (I'm about 5'10"). Since I have a hard time trying out different windshield heights, was wondering what y'all thought - do I need a higher windshield or lower??

Thanks,

Before you spend any money try this. If you have a snap on visor on your helmet, take it off and take a test ride.

You do not want to ride long distances at interstate speeds with no windshield. Everything that splats against the windshield will be splatting against your face instead.

Check out the Clearview, I've been riding with a 17" on my 07 RKC since it was new. Shield still looks great and fits me. There is a 19" shield that may work for you. If you go that way a blem is usually available quick. It's a little cheaper and the blem from all reports is barely visable.

Visors drive me nuts. Any little amount of wind under them bounce my glasses around.

thanks - I searched the forum a couple of times, and looks like a lot of folks have luck with the HD wind deflectors. Guess I'll give 'em a try

You have to get under the turbulance somehow...maybe a lower seat would work...or taller shield.

I have a Road King on order and the deflectors will probably be my second accessory purchase after headers and pipes I fought for awhile with my Memphis Shades windshield and finally got it to where I have no buffeting at all after installing lowers and tweaking the shield a bit.

So now back to square one lol
