I've read that also but I don't understand why people say that. Sorry I can't give a better explaination. I guess the wider bars give more leverage, which to me isn't neccessarily a bad thing.

I spoke to the tech at wild 1 this morning and he advises me to go with the 508’s because of my height and reach. He states that the 518 would put me in a locked elbow at all times and that when I turn the bars to the extreme to one side or the other I will most likely lose the grip of the bar because it would be too far out and away from me..

I tried to talk to the HD dealer also about the Heritage Bars but he was a DH, he only wanted to sell me the stock RK bar if I was buying through them even after I said I was interested in the Heritage bar and I wanted to see one to get a feel for the size and shape.

I guess it is time to start looking online for a dealer on the 508 and get a set, I think paying over 2 large bills is too high so I will be shopping around and checking out Ebay.

Well I bought a used set of 508's today on Ebay, I didn't want to spend alot on a set of bars I had no idea would be helpful or not. I guess we will see after I change the apes for the 508.... thanks again everyone.....

I suspect you won't be sorry, I have ridden a few bikes with apes over the years and I can honestly say the 518's are far more friendly to me, the 508's should do as well for you.

Keeps the bars you have and get your self a good PT. You will be surprised how much it will help. Hard work, but it's worth it.
