Cagers that tend to overlook motorcycles by not paying attention to their driving is my main pet peeve. Motorcycles are harder to see, and at least once a year (or so it seems) I almost crash because someone pulls out without seeing me. I layed one down in 1973 because of this and I'm still always cautious about it. A touring motorcycle is a big vehicle, but it is no match for a car or truck. We riders should always ride defensively in traffic. I know I do.

Another pet peeve is cagers that are texting while driving. I see this fairly often. Seems like an accident waiting to happen......

Left turn creepers. A cage is waiting to make a left turn and keeps creeping through the intersection. You can't really tell if they see you. Then they hit the gas as you get to the intersection so they pass right behind your bike. Scarry situation as you slow down as you approach the interection and prepare for evasive manuvers.

People not looking for motorcycles, cutting you off, changing lanes without proper clearance.

Cagers rolling into intersections without stopping where they are supposed to (behind the stop line or stop sign where there isn't a stop line). Drives me nuts when they are almost to the lane of traffic before they stop. I never quite know if they are going to stop, until they don't hit me.

Peeve#1

You're #3 up a windy double-yellow road behind a '63 Beetle (or some other woefully inadequately powered car) who is behind a semi or RV or whatever. The passing lane opens up, and the da*n rubber-band powered car slides into the left lane and sucks up the whole opportunity getting the squirrels motivated enough to do just their pass.

Peeve#2
People who are completely incapable of merging on to the freeway at speed (or looking for traffic) and who may just slam on the brakes if they "their" space is already occupied.
So, you have to be ready to fully roll-it-on to keep from getting squished, or hit the brakes.

And ditto all the 'distraction-driven' drivers - I'm personally batting about .900 in assessing either the type-of-distraction (kids vs. cell phone vs. body maintenance) and the age-group/gender of the driver, depending on the vehicle (mis)behavior.

I hate it when bugs get all over the front of my scoot. I really hate it when a hard shell bug misses the top of my windshield and hit's me between my glasses and visor of my helmet. Sometimes it will bring tears to my eyes.

Cagers talking on cell phones. A lethal mix for those of us on two wheels.

cell phone, slow in passing lane etc etc are all issues but not unique to riding a motorcycle. Although I believe they create a greater danger to motorcycle riders.

Maybe more motorcycle related:

1) Sensored traffic Lights that do not change because bike will not trip them.
2) "Motorcyle parking only" is really great. But FEW places have them. Why not?
3) Partly a peeve and partly funny: "I am on a Harley, therefore I am trouble". Wife & I went to check out a bar/grill that friend started working at. I had cutoff shirt on. Our friends boss said he should have asked us to leave! They didn't want our "type" there. I am a 53 year old grandfather and salesmen. An article on who rides a motorcycle might be fun. if the 1% is true, then 99% of us should be ok.
4) A big Peeve is that most articles are negative. I understand negative sells. But I would love to see the $$ raised by all motorcycalists for charity. I'll bet it's a HUGE number, but something we get no credit for. Poker runs alone for sick kids, injured bikers, MDA, etc I bet is more than anyone could guess and would exceed the highest amount by any corporation.

cagers coming up on side road and waiting until the last moment to stop, sometimes you never know for sure that they are going to stop or that they have seen you..
