Maxi Fuse Removal
I need to replace my Battery Tender Pigtail and have the HD Security System with Siren. I know from past experiance when doing this and not removing the Maxi Fuse the alarm goes off . Now I want to do it without waking the neighbors so when I searched the forum,
HDV Glide suggested to "turn on ignition switch, then pull Maxi Fuse" . "When finished working turn it back on before replacing Maxi Fuse"
So if I follow this correctly I should
1. Turn on Ignition
2. Pull Maxi Fuse
3. Do the needed Work
4. Turn on ignition before replacing Maxi Fuse.
5. Replace Maxi Fuse
My questions
1. After pulling Maxi Fuse I turn off ignition before working? Or leave it on when working then cycle it or it doesnt matter I guess?
2. Will I lose any settings radio? or any memory in any electrical systems that would affect the running or idle of the bike etc????
Thanks Bill

Your radio memory setting should be retained (you'd have to pull the fuse or disconnect the battery for a very long time before they would be lost). Depending on how long the power is removed, you may have the set the clock on the radio however.
I'm replacing my Battery Tender Pigtail this afternoon - old one rubbed on engine and burned wiring.
Is is really necessay to pull maxi fuse, and if so, why pull it and replace it when ignition is "on" rather than "off" ??
I have a PCIII and don't want to screw up anything.
Thanks,
Sammi

Thanks guys for all of the responses.
Sammi btw I remove it because when you have the HD FActory Security System with the audiable alarm horn it will wail till you re connect the battery as the system goes into theft mode thinking someone is stealing the bike trying to by pass the alarm by disconnecting the batter!!
Ask me how I know? Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bill

Pulled Maxi fuse, disconnected battery, connected harness 1 terminal at a time, and re-inserted fuse.
Routed new harness well away from any heat source.
Took a test ride and all is well!!!
