Electra Glide Air Temp Gauge?????
ORIGINAL: Vetter
I have a 04 Road Glide, I bought as a factory demo. My air temp gage seems to work great for me, and has always been pretty accurate. Maybe the dealer did something different to it????

Is your bike white? My bike (blue) overnight in the garage, no engine running is correct temp. Outside in the sun going down the road at 65 mph is 100 when the air is only 76. The gauge will never work right with the bike standing still. You could ask your dealer what he did to fix the problem.

No, it's black. When I have been riding my bike home lately, it's in the 80's, and my gage stays right on, with the temp outside. Even when I started riding it to work last April, it coincided with the temp at 32 degrees, and stayed correct all the way to work.
Strange, I see everyone saying the gage is way off, but I haven't experienced that.
I could try contacting the dealer, and see if they did something different. But I would probably get more cooperation from the local Kia dealership.

It is there to make Harley money. Even their guage kit for us Standard owners includes it. If they wanted to sell a usefull kit they would sell the oil pressure and oil temp in a kit.[sm=boosign.gif]
If outside air temp is important to you (though it tells you nothing at all about your motor!), fine. Seems to me that knowing the oil temp versus the temperature posted on the time/temp display at the bank is far more important and significant...but then, I ride a lot and that's just me, ya know?

Sorry about that.[sm=forgetit.gif] I will leave this post alone.

This post is about getting rid of the gauge, not keeping it and make it work properly.
I don't have banks where I ride and I like the stupid gauge. I am tired of being called stupid. So get rid of the gauge and do it right, Harley should have done it right in the first place you already said so. When you ride around the city stopping in traffic and looking at the bank you need a different gauge than I do.[sm=forgetit.gif]
