I have a 08 EGC with 33,000 miles on it. It is going into the shop for a front wheel bearing job. While its there I am thinking of having the Stage 1 air cleaner kit installed and have the bikes control modul recalibrated. Has any body done this and what was the out come. I will be keeping the stock mufflers for now.
Why don't you save yourself some coins and do it yourself? You can buy an Arlen Ness Big Sucker off Ebay for 108.00 bucks with free shipping. It's an easier install than the SE air filter. You don't have to remove the brace. Keeping your stock Mufflers, you won't need to remap your ECM. Just saying!
The very best 1st thing you could do is put a Thundermax A/T on it.
YOu will notise a big improvement with just the Thundermax on it.
Then anything you did the Thundermax will work for you.
Then you can add like what was said, the A/N Big Sucker air kit.
Jamie with Fuel Moto has em in stock.
I put a SE evo air kit on my bike.
The next thing I would do is figure what you want out of yer bike and what you want it to do.
If it was me I would do cams after I did the above.
Say some Woods TW6 cams.......
Your bike will run lean if you just put a aftermarket air filter on it. It will get more air than it did before with the stock. You can have it remapped or put a Power Commander or something else on it (Dont waste you money with the Harley download $150) to richen it up. Hell you might as well put new headers and slips ons. This will give you more horsepower/ more torque/ and motor will run cooler if it is mapped right.

You didn't say why you are thinking about a stage1 A/F after 33,000 miles. If you are doing it for more performance, just the A/F is not going to do much. It all depends on what you plan to do as to whether you need a tuner or not. Do you think the service manager at your Dealer would tell you he can put stage1 kit on your bike and handle it with the download if he couldn't? I know a very good HD mechanic that runs his bike with the stage 1, pipes and a mild cam with the Download. If you want to educate yourself on this subject, go to tuneyourharley.com or read some articles in American Iron magazine.
Yikes, what's up with that?! That ain't right. Maybe at 63K miles.
Doing one of Jaimie's Fuel-moto packages is the way to go.. slipons/AC/EFI Controller.. your bike will run cooler and stronger, espcially down low where you ride most of the time betweem 2K and 2500rpm.

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say but if i would've known whati know now i would've just bought a PCIII instead of stage 1...The air cleaner is a easy job and you can easily DIY...simple tools. Stage 1 isn't flexible enough in my opinion and you have to have re-mapped by the shop everytime you do an upgrade...

Back in the early part of the year when we got all tht rain I ran it on a flooded road down in Lakeville. It was run it or swim....pipe sound funny under water, kind of like a boat!! Might have started the process. Do a search and its not that uncommon.
Old Man, there are a lot of good options available. On my '07 Road King, I had the SE Intake and HD download and the bike ran very nicely.
On my '08 Road Glide I have the 103" kit, SE Intake, HD download and stock pipes. The bike runs a bit hot in the summer and pings a bit under load. I just installed the PCV Retro from FuelMoto and that solved those problems. Seems to have improved throttle response a bit as well.
I think your idea is a sound one if you want to remain basically stock but with a bit better throttle response. The SE Intake will definitely require the HD download as a minimum to avoid dangerously lean conditions. Remember that adding more air to the system without more fuel will result in an overly lean mixture. My opinion and experience is that either the HD Download or aftermarket tuner would work very well for you.
