Posting a few pics from a police rodeo from earlier today. Witnessed some awsome riding, these guys are good !!! If ya ever get the chance to attend one, you will be probally impressed as I was.
I sent one of those pictures to our Traffic Sergeant and asked him if our motorcycle cops could do that. He replied that they can, and must to recertify on motorcycles. Our guys are very good. They showed off today in a parade. Very impressive riding.
A lot of people don't understand how hard the training is to be a motor cop. They just think were dumb bucket heads that are too fat for cars. I just joined our motor drill team here in LA. Its a lot of fun, but takes a lot of practice. We are having some issues because my department is switching to FLHTPs, but half of us are on Harleys and half of us are still on Kawasakis. We will all be on Harleys in about a year.
slow, controlled riding is quite fun... especially when you receive the right training and have motorcycles that get fixed when you drop them.... alot. [:@]

I couyldnt agree more. I am in an Expedition for a patrol and I must admit in Texas 43 days of 100+ heat sux. I really value a good air conditioner. I have watched our guys in intial trainings and some of their retrains, what motor officers can do is something else. Even after sailing through an EVOC course in my Expedition with times close to a crown vic is nothing compated to what yall can do.

Unfortunately out department is still w/o a motor unit (although we propose it every budget year). 'Til then I'm stuck alternating between a Ford Crown Vic & a Ford Expedition.
You think thtat's something, I can weave through a serpentine course with my unmarked crown vic at 30 mph, do a power slide, and not spill a single drop of coffee! That, my friend, is experience.
