If you are doing parades in suimmer heat...YES...Most times...only when stopped. My 08 is pretty much stock as far as engine mods, and sure, it gets warm...but its NOT all that bad and when you are doing 80 MPH down the freeway, you won't feel it at all.
07 and 08 have some heat issuies(thanx to the epa)some find a 100$set of heat shields make it bearable, with a stg1 and heat sheilds its a non issuie, aftermarket headpipes and just as cool as any other years.

Thanks, I didn't think they were as hot as some claimed. One even went a far as saying his gf got 2nd degree burns!! lol
I ride an '08 Ultra Classic,I think that was a great year...really love this bike a lot and plan on hanging onto it a long time.No problems or complaints.
I have 33,000 miles on my '08 and with the exception of Sturgis intown traffic once, I haven't had a heat problem. I did install the under seat heat deflectors from HD.
I think the '08 Ultras come with the heat shields from the factory. If not, they are a fairly easy instal on an '08. An '07, like mine, are a bit more difficult from what I hear.
