Thanks man, but my question was genuine and I would have appreciated a less smart remark.

Perhaps you could elaborate on the details of these obstacles.

My reply was not meant to be taken as smart alec. Sorry if it came across that way. There is a reason you don't see these conversions as the work to do it probably out weighs the benifits.

The 08 frame is the same as before, why shouldnt the 96"+6 speed fit? Cant see a reason why not.

there have been at least 2 frame changes since 2002-2008. I dont have a parts book for 99, but frame part numbers for other years are:
2002-2007 47900-02
2008 47900-08BHP

The suffix numbers indicate the year of introduction....so there was a frame change in 2002 and 2008.

i just cant speak to a part number for 1999-2001..... the later engine and the older tranny will not mate up so at the very least you will have to have the tranny for the later engine, along with the inner and outer primary components and charging system....most likely your stator plug exiting from the primary will not mate up with the plug on your 99 regulator and later models have a 50 amp stator and I think your existing one is a 45 amp.

That statement is incorrect..The top mount was changed to allow for the 6 gallon tank in 08.

So, apart from the addition of a bracket, the frame is largely unchanged. Will the engine/tranny fit in the frame without the bracket?

Reason says yes it does.

Does it need the bracket? No

Can he add the bracket? Yes

Well, I suppose you can go without a top motor mount/stabilizer but I wouldn't recommend it. I think he needs it

And I suppose you could add the bracket if you want to weld it on and re-powdercoat the frame.

Seems like a lot of hassle to me just do a 103 on his.

So how did they survive before the addition of the top mount?
