a 96' motor wont fit with a 5' speed tranny because they run the oil feed and return internally on the newer stuff. On the older models you still have the external lines that are hidden behind the cover...not sure if a whole assembly (96" + 6 speed) would fit into the earlier years..possibly swing-arm clearance issue?
103' in a 88"= stroker + 95" bigbore...it's a fun sleeper!
...not sure if a whole assembly (96" + 6 speed) would fit into the earlier years
Well this is the $5000 question isn't it.
I have seen so many 96" full drivetrains available for cheap that I'd like to know, but I am not gonna be the guinea pig.
when i save up the money, i might try it and see what happens. However we might be better off with a stroker fly. I already got the 95" big bore for my 1999 flh 88", heads have been done by "shortblock charlie". that might be cheaper . Are you still stock 88" in your 99 flh? I wonder what the storker flywheel and installation would cost ! I might look into that ....
my dad went from 88 to 95 to103 and it cost him a bundle. my uncle went from 88 to 103 for 6 k on his 03 RK. Im not sure about engine particulars but it pulls hard an runs good but im not absolutely sure that its the best money he could have spent. He only wanted a 103 because that's what my dad had and he was crushing many of the cvos and built baggers in our area at the time. So my uncle went to the same builder ans said he wanted the same set up. I got 95 in my 01 Eglide and if i jump again, i want an entire engine swap. Then i could get a little of my money back in the sale of my current build. Check ebay. They have solid builds for 5k. spend 1k on the swap and you will probably have better results than my uncle for a cheaper complete build.
Inverse 121, Are you still stock 88" in your 99 flh?
I am still stock, I will be going 95" this winter. All the parts are waiting for me on the shelf. I just want a little more power for when I hook up the sidecar.
I can do most of the work myself, but I 'd have to outsource a stroker crank.
If I wanted a 103", I 'd just buy 19264-06C, change the headgasket, swap the cams and let her eat.
Found a 103" engine out of a 08 FLHP. I have a 95" in my 99 FLH eglide. has anyone swapped an 08 engine into a 99-07 frame with a 5 sp. tranny ? if so, were there any problems or issues ?
thanks in advance for any help.
To bring the thread back from the dead it will work. You will need a newer trans with the internal oil lines to mate up to the motor as well as a complete primary. If your doing a dyna you need a dyna trans if your doing a bagger you need the bagger trans if your doing an fxr frame you need a bagger trans and a Fxr/tc conversion oil pan. The motor mounts on your current frame will bolt right to the new motor every thing bolts up. you will have to eliminate the cam phase sensor pre 01 disconnect it and get a new ecm such as the dynatec tc88-2p. I just put a 2011 motor with a 103 kit in my 2000 fxdl with a 2006 dyna trans. my buddy just did a 2013 into his dyna and 06 dyna trans and previously did a 2015 motor and 15 bagger trans into a 1986 fxr. The reason I went that route is I got a motor trans cams and complete primary for 1300. I couldn't even buy the parts to upgrade my 88" motor with cams new cam tensioners and a 95" kit with all the new gaskets for that price. It is very possible to do and if your good at finding a deal very cheap.
hello form i know this is and old form but im trying to get some help...my 2000 fxdx tc88 motor took a ****...i just did some trading on parts i had and got a clean 2009 dyna complete motor primary and trans i was wondering if i can run it in my 2000 fxdx and what i need id like to stick with my carb set up im just wondering what all i need if you could pm me i would greatly appreciate it ...thank you
