Default Thinking selling...thoughts?

I have been thinking of selling my bike and getting a new Street Glide. I'm still undecided though. This bike is almost exactly where I want it except for some new bars and upgrading the stereo.
I have a guy who wants to buy my bike. I just don't know what it's worth. I know it's not worth near as much as I have in it.
Hear is a list of what's on the bike:
2008 Street Glide 15000 miles
ABS, cruise, security, Klockwerks Flare ws, HD HID headlight, spun aluminum gauges, LED smoked tail light, skull collection grips, foot pegs and gas cap cover, 113" engine, 2009 Race Tuner, Vance and Hines Pro Pipe H.O., blacked out engine and tranny, PM Contrast Cut Gassers (21 front/18 rear) with matching rotors, FBI front fender, HD shorty antenna, detachable luggage rack, and rider backrest.
Any ideas on what I should ask if I do decide to sell? I'm torn here. I love my bike but I have been eyeing that new Street Glide in merlot with the Power Pac.
Bike is super clean. I'm one of them neat freaks when it comes to the bike.
There is a pic of the bike in my sig.

Yup. You are very correct in saying you won't get what you have into it. Good news is that you are selling to someone you know, maybe they'll "understand" what it costs to do everything you have done to your scoot.

As far as values...for a ride loaded-up with the kinds of stuff you've done...I'd recommend searching the usual places for bikes that are similar and go from there...Ebay, Cycle Trader, and the various Harley-specific sales sites. "Blue Book" (a completely useless concept anymore with all of the various "books" IMHO) really doesn't do much for you in your case...unless you remove all of the goodies, of course.

You may find it useful to decide up-front (to yourself) what you are willing to take lowest...and don't budge...this will make it easy for you to "just say no" when all of the lowballers come out of the woodwork.

Tough call man. It's almost always cheaper to keep what you got, and you got an awful nice ride there! You are not going to leave the new bike alone either, so if you go that route, I would consider swapping some parts off your present bike to put on the new one. Nobody will know you didn't pick out those parts for the new bike.

+1.... It seems like you are the type that is going to make any bike your own with new parts and upgrades. I would say keep the scoot you've got. Thats easy for me to say I guess since I should be picking up my '11 street glide on saturday

This is what I just did. You tell me if it sounds familiar . . .

I had a 2007 FLTR with 30K on it. Had over 6K into upgrades including Tourpak, speaker upgrade, chrome, etc. etc.

Made the mistake of riding a 2011 FLTRU. Traded my 07 for the 11 and got 12K in trade.

Before the trade, I took off as many upgrade parts as I could. Sold most of them on Ebay and put some of them on my new bike. Still ended up spending 4K on the new bike.

I'm very happy with the new bike. It's actually been fun getting it where I want it with exhaust, bars, etc. etc.

I'm starting to wonder if I don't enjoy the upgrade process as much as I enjoy riding. Maybe I'll never be truly happy with a bike and I'll always be wanting a new one to work on and spend money on.

Sound familiar? ????

It will cost a lot more than you think. You will sell your bike at a loss and then spend even more money making the next bike the way you like it. I like the new merlot color too, but I think the bike you have now looks pretty sick

Yeah, I'm the kind of guy who is never happy with what I have. It pisses my wife off a lot, but thats the way I am. If I do get another bike, it would cost me a small fortune to get it where I want it.
The only thing I really like about the newer frame design is the wider rear tire and the cleaner back end. I think it would be cheaper for me just to get a fender kit and change the back end but I haven't seen an after market rear fender that I like as much as the stock.
I also have not ridden a bike with the new frame design. I am avoiding that because it might be too much temptation.

If you end up riding a bike with the new frame, I would suggest riding a buddies bike. DO NOT got to the dealer and test ride that merlot bike or you will think it handles a 100 times better than your bike and will buy it....lol. I rode an 08 and could not really tell the difference in handling than my 09. However I only rode the 08 for a short period of time.

I'm intentionally avoiding the dealership. That bike is sitting right in front of the front door!

Had the same problem recently. Co-worker was interested in my bike. I took NADA book value and added 1/2 the cost of the added parts (no labor). I still have my bike. Thinking about painting it merlot this winter.
