A friend of mine has a stock 2010 exhaust laying around and it has me thinking. Before I get my hands on it the CC is coming out so I haven't been able to try to fit it onto my bike yet.
In the meantime... Does anyone know if the 2010 stock exhaust will fit on a 2008?
I know that the brackets are a little different and that is not a problem, I also have a PC-V so the difference in the O2 size is no problem (I plan on plugging the O2 plugs). I just need to know if the bend of the pipe will work without major modifications. Has Anyone else tried this?
Search this touring forum....there was a post within the last month where someone did just that. It was NOT a simple bolt-up, and there were some modifications that had to be made for the cross-under to work. Personally, it would not be worth it to me, but if you love modding and view it as a labor of love, go for it.
i saw a guy put an '09 exhaust on an '03 road king and it looked really good. the cross over pipe didn't seem to be a problem but i didn't pay that much attention to the details because, at the time, i was riding a heritage. i now have an '08 ultra and would like to do the same with my bike. i want to use '09 exhaust because of the O2 sensor.
Thats right. I forgot that in 2010 they went to a 2 into 1 then back in 2011. Not sure how the pipes would fit, but I remember some on saying the muffler brackets were different. Also don't forget that 2010 exhaust have the cats in the header pipe.
If I remember correctly from the thread about the change used for newer exhaust system on the older models, the header pipe is about 1 inch longer because of the new frame. The original poster said he just cut the header 1 inch to make the mounts correct. But you should check the fitments before any cutting on the pipe. It is easier to take off than put back.
Thanks for the info fellas. We are in the process of cutting out the cats now so it should flow pretty good. If all I have to do is cut an inch off after the collector than so be it. I'm amped to try out a 2-1 with my intake and 255 cams. Now I just need to figure out what type of slip on to buy....
