Default Windshields

I need to put a lower shield on my bike, the current one on there measures 12.5" and the top sits right in my line of sight. If I drop about 3" it will be perfect. I can only find 1 make of shield @9.5" and its the clearview recurve. I also read that the klockwerks shield doesn't need to be as high due to it's curve, they offer an 8.5"

I want the wind as much wind protection as possible while still looking over the shield.

Who has tried these shields, and which is the best option.

Thanks for your input.

You can cut your existing one down.
Sand and polish the new edge and you'll be good to go.

I had the same issue with the stock shield on my 08 UC. I have tried several and ended up with the 10.5 smoke clearview with recurve and it is perfect. I look over it but have good wind protection with the blast going just over my head. I am 6-2 if that helps.

Also if your riding buddies have different shields ask them if you can sit on their bikes and see where their shield is in your line of sight.

it does get expensive buying multiple shields.

I have the Long Ride Shields 12" recurve on my Ultra. I'm 5' 11" and even when I stretch to sit straight up, looking about 4 or 5 inches over the windshield, I still can't feel the wind buffet. You could easily go with a 9" recurve windshield and still be protected from the wind.

The Clearview 9.5 is exactly what I'm using.A good rule of thumb with recurve windshields is the top of the shield should be level with your mouth.

If the 12.5 in your line of sight then......

It's easy for you to check it out with a piece of masking tape on your current shield before ordering anything.

I used a Klockwerks on my old RoadGlide and really liked it,offered as good or better protection as others the same height, but cut through the wind much better....can't say how the batwing version is,form over function this time for me,too curvy for the looks of my cycle.

Hi, I have had the Klockwerk on my 09 RG it looks good but you can not hear your sound system. I have also bought the HD low profile shield and it does nothing!! I would just cut down the one you have!!! I just put in new sound system and live with wind in your face and chest... JJ..

I have the 9 inch long ride ultraflip, can see over it great and works better than the stock windshield.

+1 on the tape.
I used a strip of tape on my stock shield to determine how much lower to go and still be able to look over it.

I'm 5'10" and use a LRS 8" ultra flip. I can see over it easily and wind protection is comparable to the stock 12".
