STABIL Does it Get OLD?

I have a 5 year old Stabil and used it on the bike for this winter. Bike was spitting and the idle was a little irratic ? Can the Stabil be bad ?

I've never had any problems with it, however it states on the bottle thats it good for two years after opening.

Stabil tells you to leave it in the carb but if you do that it can clog it and I had to re-build 3 dirt bike carbs because of it. I don't know if it can go bad but I won't ever leave it in the carb again. I put it in the tank shut off the fuel and drain the rest.

I just took a look at a bottle and that's what it says.
Good for two years after opening.

I usually use Stabil, but some years I have not and have not had any problems. I am not convinced that Stabil is necessary in a bike sitting only 4 to 5 months. Gasoline does not usually go bad that quickly.
